After 35 years in mechanical contracting, Robert DeCesare Jr. built ProTrade to bridge his relationships with contractors and tradespeople across New England. The concept: provide reliable workforces to job sites, while ensuring good pay and fair treatment to skilled workers.
What started through years of firsthand experience in the trades grew into a staffing company built around practical understanding of the work.
In September 2025, Robert lost his life in a shooting,
and the future of ProTrade was changed overnight.
Active jobs, employees expecting payroll, contractors depending on the company, and a business he had spent years building. Rather than walk away from it, the family chose to carry it forward.
Led by Robert’s son, Steven DeCesare, ProTrade began its next chapter, preserving the foundation of relationships and industry knowledge that got ProTrade here, while rebuilding much of how the company operates behind the scenes.
Our focus became building a stronger company through better technology, clearer communication, and a simpler experience for contractors and tradespeople alike.
Robert DeCesare Scholarship Fund for the Trades
Set up by the DeCesare family with the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation for students training for a career in the skilled trades. This scholarship supports students of all ages pursuing construction and mechanical skilled trades whose character, work ethic, and determination reflect the values Robert lived by.
ProTrade has changed considerably since its beginning, and it will continue to. But the idea behind it remains simple: understand the work, stand behind your word, and be there when the job calls for you.
